11.12.26 SCREENING // THE HITCHER

FORMAT: BLU-RAY
HOSTED BY: GREG

A young man driving alone across the American Southwest makes the unfortunate decision to pick up a hitchhiker. His passenger, John Ryder, turns out to be a seemingly unstoppable psychopath with a taste for murder and a very particular interest in his new traveling companion.

Robert Harmon's nightmarish highway thriller transforms the open road into a landscape of pure existential terror. Rutger Hauer delivers one of the great villainous performances of the 1980s, haunting C. Thomas Howell through an endless procession of desert highways, roadside diners, and spectacularly bad decisions. Bleak, hypnotic, and beautifully photographed, THE HITCHER is proof that sometimes the most dangerous thing you can do is offer someone a ride.
